Nature Trails

Norwich, England

I love getting up in the mornings, particularly in the winter after a frost, and looking out at a clear blue sky. The other morning there was a chill in the air when I got up so I went downstairs and put the kettle on and then opened up the blinds in the kitchen. I was expecting to see a lovely clear blue sky but instead I was greeted with this mish-mash of trails from planes. It annoyed me that I couldn't see the true blue of the sky but then I saw a certain beauty in it. Although we have a small airport at Norwich, just two or three miles up the road from me, the planes don't tend to take off or land over my village so these planes must have come from up north - possibly Leeds (over 170 miles away) or Birmingham (160 miles away). Although I watched them as they flew across, they were eerily silent.

Sometimes when I see one of the big planes coming over the city (I don't live there but we might be travelling) I wonder how such a huge machine can stay in the air like it does.

Every now and again we get a 'stray' plane take a wrong turn somewhere when it comes to land or takes off from Norwich airport and it's quite scary when they fly low over the houses. They really are massive.

Have to admit I don't have a very steady hand so my photos are more luck than judgment!!
