Scary Moments for Old Man Hamster

My hamster is two and a half and an old man now. Last week I noticed he was sleeping a lot and didn’t look well - Saturday night I realized he’d been peeing blood! I rushed him off to the emergency veterinarian since it was late at night. The vet didn’t know anything about hamsters but gave him antibiotics and an injection of fluids. That perked him up right away.
Today I brought him to our usual vet. He got scruffed and poked and prodded before being pronounced healthy (if a bit skinny). Hopefully my little old man still has plenty of happy days left for snoozing and eating and biting me.
