Happy Friday! And welcome back from vacation, John! Can't wait to hear about your latest exploits! I won't be heading out until foliage season, mid-October. While we wait for his report on his travels here's another song with a type of bird in the title. #7: Canary in a Coalmine - The Police A friend of mine flew to Norfolk from Orlando to see the Police with me in 1981. She played the opening of the song in a "blind listening test" and asked if I knew if it was on the right speed. This is one of the album cuts from the Police's first "mega" album, which also featured "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da." It's a great song about looking at the "stress" of the stressed ("first to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect") and the consequences ("If I tell you that you suffer from delusion you'll pay your analyst to reach the same conclusion"). It's long been a favorite of mine. Canary in a Coalmine Written by Sting Recorded by The Police From Zenyatta Mondatta, 1980 Catch a dose of influenza:
Sting, Andy Summers, and Stweart Copeland

Pretty heady lyrics for a rock band.
