Wednesday 18th September - the Annual General Meeting at the community centre which is coping well despite losing a lot of funding when grants from the National Lottery services dried up, but many projects and services are going strong for now, though thy do need more financial support in the next three years to survive. They are running a local nature reserve too, with some rare species of newt breeding there. There was a very nice buffet afterwards and then I went on to a poetry event at the city centre library. Getting there and back is normally easy but there were traffic jams caused by a car crash on a nearby motorway, and a 45 minute delay for no apparent reason on the return journey too. Two poets read work out, Hannah Stone described her walks on the Pembrokshire Coast, standing stones and a village immortalized in a movie version of Dylan Thomas's poem, Under Milk Wood. Local poet Katerina Neocleous read from her pamphlet collection, Wish, which includes strong references to Greek mythology, including 'Icarus', a poem comparing other ways of getting high, including alcohol and drugs to the famous birdman's doomed flight to freedom, and just as sure to come crashing down again. Both writers are published by Maytree Press. Thursday - A return visit to the library to job search and get some books out. Friday - An ordinary visit to the community centre, lamenting the idiots setting fireworks off close to home (a problem many are reporting to the police) and having a nice phone call from my mother too. Saturday - job search, flat tidying and writing.

Ugh traffic jams are the worst. I haven't come across your posts in quite some time. So your looking for a new job? Anything in particular? I hate fireworks I'm not sure why teens and some adults find them so fun to set off all the time.

Fireworks are banned here apart from sparklers so that's one worry we don't have.

Sounds like you had a nice time at the poetry readings. And a call from your mother, I'm sure, was welcome. Good luck with your job search and your writing.
