The appointment time is set, and by 3 PM Sunday (9/22) I'll have my new bed! I'll put up a Go-Fund-Yourself account if you want to donate for the cost. Just kidding. And, speaking of kidding, here's a song with a type of bird in the title....one that might have been in the "real titles" countdown if I'd used comedic songs (because those are the ones that tend to have the strangest song titles). #6: Poisoning Pigeons in the Park - Tom Lehrer As Foghorn Leghorn would say, "It's, ah say, it's a joke, son!" However, this song has a basis in truth: cities used to poison pigeons (in the 50s) to control the population because pigeon poo-poo was doing damage to statues, benches, and other city property. If you don't know who Tom Lehrer is, you need to discover this genius. And I'm not being a fan by calling him a "genius." The man was a mathematician professor at Harvard. And NUTS? His social commentary/satire songs are still appreciated by fans who weren't born when he began doing them (such as myself: this song comes from an album that was released the year before I was born). Tom Lehrer's all retired now (he's 91), from math and music. But dang what great, silly, and even educational (he wrote a song with the periodic table of the elements as the lyrics) things he's given us!!! One of our local musicians sings this. I thought at first he'd written it himself as it's the type of stuff he does. Nice to know who actually wrote it.
