A nice way to go to your final resting place

Vince went into Donnybrook earlier and told me about the radio programme he was listening to in the car. They played Verdi’s March of the Hebrew Slaves from the opera Nabucco, and the announcer went on to say that, when first performed, The opera received rave reviews. Just 60 days later, Verdi died.
At his funeral, the crowds in the streets spontaneously began to sing the March of the Hebrew Slaves. Initially buried in a private ceremony, his body was moved a month later and a choir of 820 voices conducted by Arturo Toscanini again sang March of the Hebrew Slaves. An estimated crowd of 300,000 attended the funeral.
I can’t help thinking how magical it would be to be in your coffin being driven along the streets with the crowds singing a song you’d composed. I wonder if it has ever happened again.
And, even if you can’t normally stand opera, this piece is worth listening to at least once. It’s awesome.

I can see him now, as a ghost, riding on top of the hearse, smiling.

@JudyEv And who's to say, he might have even been DRIVING the hearse!

@kobesbuddy You could make up a wonderful fantasy story with some of these ideas.

what a lovely tribute to a great composer though. i've hopes that he 'twas able to hear such 'n feel the love so many'd fer him durin' his lifetime. a bit odd to be buried one place, 'n then moved to 'nother??

@JudyEv oh, no worries, hon. yes ma'am, i listen to country music. jest can't handle high-pitched voices 'n music fer some reason? i confess to wearin' ear plugs to see my grand young'uns perform'n band...'f course, they didn't know, jest tickled i came :)
i thought perhaps safety might've been'n issue? there'd be weirdos here who'd most likely dug the poor fella'p...they've done so'n the past with unprotected gravesites 'f famous folks.

@crazyhorseladycx That's true. You might like to read about Haydn. Some guys dug up his grave and stole the head as they were fascinated by phrenology and wanted to read the 'bumps' of a genius. Actually, I wrote about it on myLot if you want to read it:
@myklj999 posted about giving away one record and later being given a whole heap of classical recordings. You can catch up here: It brought to mind a story...

I'm sorry you found it difficult to listen to. Do you listen to much music at all?
They moved him to a crypt so perhaps it was more protected from the elements and it was possibly a more prestigious place. I couldn't find a reason for the move.

That sound like a very great honor for him, Who is to say that he didn't see and hear it all while smiling from above?

I always wanted to write a song, but never did accomplish this. One time I wrote a short song, for our church's vacation Bible school.

@JudyEv The song was basically a melody, for everyone to sing at the beginning of each VBS meeting. Shirley was stumped, so she ask me to come up with a song. The children did great and it worked out fine!

I hope he was aware of it. I have heard that soul's stay on earth for awhile before they move on.

sounds great - reminds me of the Edward G Robinson Euthenasia scene in Soylent Green - quite beautiful but it turns to horror later as the body is sent to a factory to be turned into food for people
Sol throws in the towel. Soylent Green is people, no matter how you slice it... & I prefer mine sliced Deli thin.
