How many movies in a series is too many?
How many seasons in a television serial is too many?
How many books in a series is too many?
I think that all depends on personal preference. Some people are hardcore fans and enjoy every reiteration no matter how lengthy it gets. Some find that the story has been told and is now being beaten with a stick.
Personally I lean more towards the "Ok, that's enough. Let us enjoy the reruns / rereading / re-watching. Stop trying to spin a story where there is nothing left to spin.
Are you a faithful follower of your favorite show / movie or book series? Or do you give it a certain number of sequels before you give up on it?

There is a movie series here that is shown every night. It is about a local cop. That series has been running for more than 3 years now.

When the series becomes boring as time goes by I've lost my appetite to watch...

Yes, you can only stretch a storyline so far. Like soap operas, I watched them as a child but not as an adult. They were too silly.

I agree. It ultimately boils down to how well the writer did, whether it's a movie, t.v. show or book.

Well! It all depends upon the person(as you said) and what the person would like to watch or read( I mean their area of interests).

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, I agree to this.. we tend to give a pause to our favorite things and when we take it again, we will find a special happiness in it..

Yes, I guess so. I'm a faithful follower of serialized shows in my country.

@ilocosboy Ah I see. That is a good amount of time. Of course there are many shows that have ran for a lot logner.

I thought about you on Wednesday of last week as AHS has premiered. I was wondering where you were and was worried that you were feeling worse. I hope you are okay?

@JustBhem Yes, yesterday's episode of American Horror Story was the second one. The theme is called 1984 and is a slasher similar to Friday the 13th. Will you be able to watch the past two episodes?
I'm glad you are doing okay now. It's good to see you here.

I rarely watch anything more than once. A series of movies needs to be just like series of tv shows. The problem is usually just same movie over and over with worse everything from actors to writers and directors. Why I call those a money grab. It is specifically designed for money purposes but people fall for it every time. Every now and then someone will do it right and it just confuses everyone more.

Oh yeah, those types of movies make their money on the backs of the actors. People are going to keep coming back for the actors more than they are the storyline.

I like to see all kinds of new movies in a series. Usually they are just as good as the first one.

I guess I am much pickier as my medium of choice is books rather than television.

Sometimes people will make more of a series just to make money off of it's name.

I have certain series that even though they had many seasons I can watch over and over again and all the characters are like old friends, I have watched ER which went 15 seasons all through twice already I have the complete series on DVD and will definitely watch again at some point, Others are not so very long but I still like them,

Now ER is one of those shows that I wouldn't mind watching a thousand times over. I haven't seen it in years but it used to be my favorite thing to watch.

It really depends on what it is. I am not much of a TV watcher. I read more than anything else. It depends on how interesting I find something.

Yes, I read a lot more than anything else. I wrote this discussion with a book in my mind. I am reading a book that has 7 books in total in it's series. I got the first two for free on kindle's best sellers list. I am just not sure whether I should finish the book I have or not. I am not willing to pay for the other books in the series as they are $7.99 a piece.

@whiteream I need to find something else to read but I can't find anything that I think will hold my interest at the moment. I'm not even feeling much like watching television.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wouldn't end up finishing the book. I would just start something new.

I am playing hot and cold with this one series I am reading. I like it but it has 7 books and I am not sure that I want to get vested in this series and shell out that much money.
