Everyday there is a young man that walks around our circular street over and over again. All day long you see him walking our circle all alone. Several of us have said hello and tried to engage him in conversation but we get no response. I never see him with anyone. It seems as though he is either terminally shy or there is a problem that we don't know It[s not any of our business but still you wonder. He makes such a solitary figure going around and around. I guess we are just being nosy.

Maybe his daily exercise. If someone wants to talk to me, I take the time to talk when I walk the complex.

He must walk around the circle forty to fifty times. He seems to take off only when he is eating a meal.

You should be nosy, it's your neighborhood. Have you ever tried to get a picture of him? Maybe he's in need of help and doesn't know how to ask.

That's a shame @HazySue it would be in his best interest if his parents would make it a point to let neighbors know what problems there might be so that he isn't mistaken for something he isn't.

@rebelann It would be but they seem to be very private people and are hard to get into a conversation, especially one like this.

He lives with his parents and is well kept. His parents don't seem to welcome questions.

Perhaps he has the circle mapped out and knows how many laps he has to do to reach a mile. Our circle is 5/8 of a mile. I’m sure I’ve been seen walking it alone on several occasions. If I saw anyone, I’d certainly stop to chat.

Could be a lot of different things. Could he be homeless?

Nope, he lives at his parents on the next street over. They put up a large storage building that he lives in for privacy.

@LindaOHio He does have some challenges. His walking seems to get out that extra energy he seems to carry around with him.

@HazySue Maybe he has some challenges or maybe he's just a super-private person.

I'd be the same and try to talk to him or at least say hi, since it's someone who lives in my area and it's common courtesy to be nice...still it he doesn't want to talk that's another story

Nobody tries to force him to interact. We just think it is the thing to do to say hello to a neighbor.

It makes you wonder why they do that I don't believe that I could spend the whole day walking around and around.

Maybe he just don’t want to engage into a conversation. Or maybe he takes the walk seriously.

I think it is more of a compulsion with him. Almost like it is something he feels he needs to do.
