Bye Bye Wild Morning Glories

One of the things I love about living in the country is all the wildflowers. We have several different kinds that pop up here and there.
Across the street around our mailbox there are quite a few morning glories as seen in the photo above. However, the beauty of said morning glories came to an end at the end of last week.
The county sent out their mowers and they took away the beauty that I enjoy daily going out to get my mail. They did leave one little stalk that has a couple of blooms on it.
I will be looking forward to these beauties coming back up.
Do you have any wildflowers in your yard? or nearby?

I used to have Lantana flowers growing around my mailbox at a previous house I lived in. They were beautiful when they were in bloom. At my current house, I have a very heavy tree canopy that keeps my entire yard shaded, so there is not enough sunlight for flowers to thrive.
I wonder if you put a sign out next to your flowers that says "Do Not Mow" if the county lawn guys would honor it and leave your flowers next time they pass through?

I was thinking about putting a framed box around the mailbox. The flowers extend several feet so I know they won't leave them all and it is a servitude there for parish. I 'm going to try the box, but need some rain to get it in the ground. The soil is like cement right now with no rain of any fair amount I about a month here.

@moffittjc Yep, we have a state-wide burn ban right now too.

@kareng Nothing is worse than dealing with a parched earth that is hard as concrete.

I'm sorry they mowed your morning glories. Our yard is in much need of weeding and landscaping. We don't have any wildflowers.

@LindaOHio Year before last we had snow 3 or 4 times. It was a whacky winter. Usually, we only get it once every 5-8 years and not much of it. We had a couple snow days with accumulation of 2-6 inches of snow.

@kareng That sounds like a good idea. Do you get any snow in Mississippi? I wouldn't think so.

The wildflowers sound really beautiful indeed. In the spring time all of them will be back again. I liked seeing blue bell flowers in the forest. By the side of the road I saw red poppies. Today I saw some very tall sunflowers in someone's garden to lives close to the school. They were taller than the people walking past.

I am constantly pulling those here. They try to take over my garden.

I haven't seen many in my yard. These are across the street and they have stretched out several feet in just the couple of months in between parish mowings. I can see how they would get a bit annoying to you with your garden getting invaded.

@kareng They are very fast growers and will smother other plants in no time. They are pretty to look at until you are trying to find a corn stalk in them.

They are lovely.. Sad that they have been mowed down.
I don't have wild flowers but a plenty of blooms on my terrace to cheer me up each morning

@arunima25 I'm really enjoying mine right now. I'm stuck here at the house most of the time with my mom so this gives me something to focus on and is also fun (or at least to me it is.)

@kareng I totally agree. Gardening is my hobby and my plants are like my babies. They bring so much of joy.

there's several wildflowers that grow 'round these parts. the county 'tis prone to wipin' those out'n the ditches - spreadin' weeds 'n seeds 'nstead. courtesy 'f their fine work, i'm now battlin' bind weed. a battle i'll ne'er win - nothin' kills 't. if ya break e'en the tiniest root off, such goes forth'n prospers.
hope yer mornin' glories 're quick to return, hon.

Sometimes too much vegetable ruins the environment with bugs and other insects.

@kareng grass. LOL. I didn`t plant a summer garden. I want greens but the tiller is broken. I am thinking of a raised bed for a few greens.

@andriaperry I am working on a fall/winter raised bed since my summer one did not get done. Since the cultivator is in the storage container and I can't open the door due to weight of it, I'm at the hubby's mercy there. Maybe we can do it this weekend. I'll have to tempt him with a favorite meal or something. Haha.

I used to see dark purple morning glories growing on several of the fences in one of the neighborhoods I used to live in. I always thought they were so amazing and I used to stop and take pictures of them!
