Garbage Truck Wakes People Up

They come on a truck with a loud horn blowing at 6 a.m. waking the people who are still asleep; the garbage hauling men. I just miss the one where they played a tune instead of that loud truck horn to call the attention of homeowners/helpers to bring out their trash. But we are still happy in spite of that little disturbance in sleep because the collection is more efficient now unlike in the past local administration. They also enforce strict waste segregation; they do not collect unsegregated garbage; the recyclable, residual, and biodegradable wastes. There are specific days when each would be collected. We do not throw or biodegradable trash; we just let it rot in the grassy portion of the lot and have it as fertilizer later. This lessens the volume of garbage to be dumped at their dumping site.

Yeah those trucks can sound annoying but it is a signal to prepare your trash for collection so no matter how annoying they may sound annoying but you always are looking for them to arrive so you can dispose of your trash out from you home.

Same here, so loud early in the morning, wish they would tone it down a bit, yes better than if they do not pick up. We have an ordinance now that we cannot put it out at night, we can only put it out when the truck is already coming very early morning.

It is true because sone stray digs will scatter it; and it is unsightly.

I would pick a loud garbage truck that follows a strict schedule and segregation rule over one that plays a nice tune.

@acelawrites true. Most probably because it is near Christmas season already. They'll be giving envelopes soon.

Yes when we were living in Metro Manila, garbage trucks play that certain tune.

Whoa, why too early to disturb the peace of the neighborhood?

They said it was an order for them to make the rounds so earky to avoid adding to traffic on the road.

They got a point with the traffic but they should consider the people who are still asleep.

@Alexandoy we can't complain about it; it is better than not having the garbage collected at all.

People here wouldn't like them blowing the truck horn in the early morning. Our rubbish is picked up weekly.

@acelawrites I guess it's a good idea in that case.

It's their way of telling people to bring out the garbage bags.We do not take it out so early because it is unsightly.

here it's 3x a week and we put it out early because sometimes we're busy when they pass, or sometimes, they pass without us even noticing

Our trash pickup comes once a week at 8:00 and the recycling gets picked up every other week on the same day and around the same time. We used to compost when we had a garden, but in a bin. If we left food out, we would attract all the animals from the woods.

We just give the leftover foods on a feral cat who comes near our house to beg for food. Composting is nice.

@acelawrites there are so many sounds they can choose from not to startle those who are still sleeping.
