My car turned purple!

I have a little grey "kei-car", otherwise known as a light car, which is a kind of car we have in Japan with a small amount of horsepower (my friend calls it squirrel power) and small wheels. We have to pay less road tax because our vehicle is light.
Also, in Japan we have an annoying (but probably for everyone's good) car checkup every two years, called shaken, and pronounced "shah ken". It costs quite a bit because they check up on every bit of your car, especially the exhaust and amount of emission, brakes, tires etc. to make sure all cars here are safe. If your shaken runs out you are not allowed to drive that car.
So today, 10/10, my little grey car is in for shaken. Fortunately, I have a nice auto mechanic, who loans (free) a car while we are getting shaken done. This one looks exactly like my car, except it is darkish lavendar! It's so funny to walk out and find this cute little purple car!
Anyway, I hope my car doesn't need many repairs so the shaken will be cheaper. Does your country have any required auto checkups?

Nope, what ever advance stuff you guys got there, we don't have it here that's for sure. Everything in Japan is really close to the real advance 21st century. The rest of us are still in dark ages except the internet.

This is the first time I've heard of the term shaken.
