I have just been hacked!

I was looking at my phone and saw some notifications from PayPal. I first thought that I had gotten a couple of eBay sales. It turns out that I was getting these transactions for one penny being taken from my PayPal Business Mastercard. There were several different names attached to them. I just got off the phone with PayPal, and apparently someone by the name of Dustin in Buda, Texas near Austin, put a transaction through for one cent.. Then four minutes later, I received another one cent transaction coming from a company called Gifts Central. PayPal told me they were testing my account to see if it was good, before they used my card for larger purchases. I very rarely use this card except to pay for eBay purchases, or my fees. I did use it to withdraw $100 cash, and get a $15 gas card back on the 1st. But this was the last time I used it outside of eBay. I live in Florida. So how these folks from Texas got my info, I will never know. I was also told by PayPal that Florida has the largest fraud problem than any other state in the U.S. It has become an uncontrollable epidemic. My card has been cancelled, and they are sending me a new one. Luckily...it takes on 24 hours to have money sent to the bank now...in case I need it. But this is really weird. I have not had anything like this happen in a very long time.

I'm happy that the issue was resolved soon by PayPal.

Lucky you found this and got it taken care of so quickly. Before he started making larger purchases. This is what the internet has given us. We all have to be diligent.

I wonder how the hackers got hold of the credit card... via Paypal maybe.

@Alexandoy It was via PayPal. It was through their Mastercard. But they have identity theft protection.

I wonder why PayPal has no option for 2-factor authentication so users can avoid being hacked.

That... You will have to ask them.
