A service dog alerts his owner during a house fire in South Carolina

Brian Rand who is a Vietnam War veteran is thankful that his service dog that he adopted from an animal shelter three years ago since Curly liked having Brian as his new owner. Brian's faith in having Curly as his best friend paid off on Monday morning when a house fire started in Brian's home in Beaufort South Carolina around midnight when Curly altered his owner who was taking a nap at the time. Brian managed to get out of his bed and leave the home with Curly by his side outside his home when he saw the hallway filled with heavy smoke. The silver lining in the dark cloud was that even though Brian's home was damaged halfway from the fire, his medals inside his home that he earned from his service in Vietnam were not destroyed not to mention had Curly not awakened him up, the roof of the home where he was sleeping would have collapsed on him. Dogs are indeed man's best friend since they can alert their owners when their lives are in danger in a house fire.
