A magnitude 6.4 earthquake hit the areas of Mindanao Island, Philippines early evening of October 16, 2019. Few minutes the earthquake happens, Bhem @JustBhem managed to reply in one of my posts. She is from Davao and it was one of the most affected areas. I inquired about the situation there but she no longer reply. I have read from the reports that there was power outage after the incident. Prayers for them.

My son's ship is anchored there now in Surigao after travelling from Korea, I called him up soon as I heard the news to be alert cause there might be a tsunami ( he was sleeping cause he's off duty)and of course he did not feel it being on the ship. I pray for the people of Mindanao that all would be well, including bhem and all other other Mylotters down South.

Good for your son that was not affected but be aware that there are still after shocks being felt over there so he should still be aware of that unless he has already left for Korea already.

@ZedSmart they avoided the rough seas and strong winds from that typhoon that hit Japan and the one that just entered our country only to be on the earthquake zone, yeah that's life, my son and the rest of the crew are safe thank God.

@ZedSmart Oh I am not aware of that as of now. It is sad that this is happening to our countrymen down south. I hope they are doing well and safe there. I think with that high magnitude we should expect more aftershocks before everything will calm down again in affected areas.

@ZedSmart Yes, I have heard about that from one of my best friends. She came from GenSan. It is indeed too bad for the owner of the mall and to those who are earning from working at that mall.

The mall caught by fire is from GenSa. It was reported that it took 13 hours for the firefighters to stop it but it was reported again that at night the fire resurrect. Too bad to tenants and the owner of the mall itself.

@thelme55 That is so true. Too bad for the workers of the mall. They are the most affected especially if they only rely on their earnings from work.
