is it just me or do you take pictures out the airplane window?

I am probably the only person that does that. But, in hopes of others, I am reaching out to the world. Do you upon seeing something out the window of a plane, take a picture?

I haven’t been on a plane in 30 years. The most impressive thing I saw from a plane was the Grand Canyon.

I think that I have only flown five times in my whole life. The first two trips were from England to Holland and I didn't have a camera, so can only rely on my memory. The third time was a trip in a small two-seater and I was careful to take my camera with plenty of film so that I could take photos of our house and the villageI lived in. The last two were long haul flights between London and Los Angeles and I made sure that I had a seat next to the window. I did take several photos both on the way out and on the way back but I don't think I noticed anyone else on the flight doing so.

@DocAndersen I started out with an old folding Kodak Autograph camera which took 127 film. I did have it with me on the first trip because I have pictures i took in Holland for that trip. I can't think why i have no photos of the plane (a flying sardine can called a Bristol Freighter) or from the plane. I suppose that it was packed in my luggage at the time. My father had a darkroom and i used to develop my films and make enlargements. Then I had various 35mm cameras which took colour film and the processing was too much of a fiddle, especially when the cost of the film usually included professional processing and mounting (as slides). I graduated to digital in 2000 and, sadly, haven't used any of my film cameras since.

@DocAndersen Well, really, a cloud is a cloud is a cloud, isn't it? I think there might be a few of checkerboard fields down below.

I went on a plane from England to Lithuania in the autumn time. Out of the plane window was beautiful golden trees and a silhouette of the plane. I will never forget it because it was so much delight for me taking photos of that. I flew over the Egyptian pyramids and didn't take photos. On that trip the plane from Kenya needed to refuel in Cairo. Twenty years later I finally managed to visit Egypt. I took photos out of the plane in the Maldives of the islands below and the coral reef.

@DocAndersen Yes, I so very enjoyed taking these photos. I tried taking photos out of a train window this summer. There was a pretty river and some ornate looking religious buildings.

Yes, I’ve taken many photos out of a plane’s window. You are not alone. My favorites were the tulips in and and the Sahara along the Nile.
