"Cast Away" is a survival drama that was released in 2000. The movie was a critical and commercial success. With a $90 million budget it had $429.6 million in box office receipts. Hanks was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. CAST Tom Hanks - Chuck Noland Helen Hunt - Kelly Frears Nick Searcy - Stan Jenifer Lewis - Becca Twig Chris Noth - Jerry Lovett Lari White - Bettina Peterson Vince Martin - Albert Miller Geoffrey Blake - Maynard Graham Michael Forest - Jack Jay Acovone - Petrov December 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee - Chuck Nolan is a time-obsessed systems engineer for Federal Express. His job is to travel the world and to resolve productivity problems. He would like to marry his long-term girlfriend, Kelly Frears; but his job always gets in the way. Chuck is in Moscow showing the staff how Fedex does business. He opens a package that he sent to himself. Inside is a timer showing 87 hours. Chuck says that is totally not acceptable since the Fedex strategy is to deliver overnight. He calls Kelly and tells her he'll be home in less than 24 hours and that he needs to see a dentist. During Christmas Eve dinner Chuck gets a call that he needs to go to Malaysia. At the airport Kelly and Chuck exchange gifts. Kelly gives him an antique watch that was her grandfather's. Inside the lid is a picture of her. Chuck tells her that he will keep it set on Memphis time to remind him to come home. He gives her a small ring box. He had planned on proposing on New Year's eve but decided to do it sooner. Chuck tells Kelly, "I'll be right back". On the flight, Chuck is the only passenger. The plane encounters a raging storm. The crew wants to try to fly around it; but they lose communication with Fiji. Chuck goes into the restroom to freshen up. The door flies open and he almost gets sucked out of the plane. He goes back to his seat and one of the crewman hands him a raft. The plane goes down into the Pacific Ocean. Chuck manages to make it back to the surface and climbs into the raft; but he loses the emergency locator transmitter. One of the airplane's engines explodes; and he passes out. When he wakes up he finds himself on a small, uninhabited island. If you want to find out what happens next, you'll have to watch the movie. I've seen this movie a couple of times. It's a pretty good movie; and I think that you'll enjoy it. I give it my recommendation. This movie is rated PG-13. Thank you for stopping by; and happy viewing. Photo Credit: Pixabay

Loved it. We saw it when it came out in the theater with friends. They loved it, too.
