More rain on landslide prone areas

Japan
October 22, 2019 2:27am CST
Last week we had Typhoon Hagibis, which caused a lot of flooding in several areas in Japan. They are still cleaning up from that and 12 people are still listed as missing. However, two typhoons (one of which has been downgraded to a tropical depression) are causing heavy rains. The smaller one has been pushing the larger one to the east, so I think the center of the typhoon will miss us with its winds, but we still will be on the edge. The problem with the rain is that many rivers are near overflowing still, and the ones whose banks broke are especially dangerous even with a little rain. Also, slopes such as hills and cliffs that have been saturated with water could easily become over-saturated and cause landslides. Fortunately we have not had any large earthquakes, which would certainly not help the landslide situation! I'm sure my area should be all right, but my school has sandbags in all the areas where the buildings tend to flood. I'm glad my school staff knows how to deal with this. My house is on high ground so not a problem. I hope weather calms down a bit. Texas had tornadoes yesterday which were terrible. I personally would just love to see the blue sky, but it looks like that won't happen for the next few days. How is your fall/spring weather? I seem to see that people here in the Philippines are also having wet weather.

Our spring weather couldn't be nicer. Having your house slide down a hillside must be one of the worst nightmares. I'm glad your house is on high ground.

Lucky for you that your house is on high land. We don't get typhoons in England thankfully.

I have noticed that weather patterns are changing. It seems that the destruction is happening in other countries now.
