We have seen in my country the result of a week of protests. I know that we have been in the world news during this whole week. This is not a political revolt as Maduro in Venezuela would have liked. This is mainly a result of the awareness that in my country there is an economic problem that has to be with how the country riches are distributed. The people in my country are peaceful. They have to be very discontent and angry to protest like this. What has happened this week is a demonstration of what could happen if angry people arise. I have talked with many people by phone. They are all educated people and they have all stayed at home. And all of them, including my 96 years old aunt, say that the protesters are right. This is not this governments fault, although it has been as deaf as the rest of the other governments, even the more leftists ones we have had. I hope the government and the Legislative power listen to them now. Because now the Chileans know that they have the real power. And that, my friends is a real democracy. It is a pity that this has to happen so that few corrupt people understand what should be perfectly clear.

I´d say the government must be in a state of shock after the protests. If you see that partial picture I placed here, there were over a million people only in Santiago. This was a pacific way of saying that the power is in the hands of the people. Something MUST be done. And it better be quick.

@LindaOHio Yes. But it is difficult to look the other way when way over a million people are marching for days in a city that has less than 7 million. And this has happened in all the country, from north to south.

I hope things improve. When an economy is struggling, it can't be made strong again in a short space of time. The people will need to be patient while changes are being made.

The economy is good in my country. The problem lies that the money goes into the pockets of few.

@marguicha In that case, no wonder citizens are complaining.
