Maybe not a mighty oak yet but, while I was at the bottom of my garden admiring the autumn hues of the trees, through the branches of a stark bare elder bush at the bottom of the garden I spotted this beautiful little oak tree trying to make his presence felt amongst the taller trees.
He was the only one in the row that has golden leaves. The others haven't yet gone into autumn mode it seems.

Thinking about it I've always had oaks around me. Mum and Dad had a huge oak tree at the bottom of the garden in their first home and where I was born. We then moved to another with an oak tree and now we've got oaks within easy reach.

@olliesmum Oaks aren't very common around here. I don't know if they are common in other parts of Australia but they are not native to here.
