National Potato Day Mother-in-Law Day 1682 - Philadelphia is founded in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 1904 - The first underground subway line in New York City opens...later known as the IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line. 1914 - Dylan Thomas was born. He was a Welsh poet and playwright. He is best known for his poem "Do not go gentle into that good night..." He died in 1953. 1984 - Kelly Osbourne was born. She is a British television personality, singer, songwriter, actress and fashion designer. She is the daughter of Ozzy (Black Sabbath) and Sharon Osbourne.
