Today, I was in the teachers' room talking to another teacher, and suddenly some sixth grade students knocked on the door. They were there with their teacher and a cart with coffee, milk, sugar and chocolate.
"Would anyone here like a coffee?"
We said of course, but why?
"We are studying community and how to build a good community, so we are doing a service to the teachers. Also, this coffee is fair trade, so it is good for the community that grows it."
They served us coffee in paper cups and a small piece of chocolate (also fair trade.) Then they gave us a small questionnaire to be given to their teacher about how they did in terms of politeness, how well they explained fair trade, etc.
They were very pleased with themselves and so were we! Have you had surprise kindness from others that helped build your community and relationships?
