1938 - Orson Welles broadcast his radio play of H. G. Wells' "War of the Worlds", causing some audience members in the United States to become acutely anxious.
1939 - Grace Slick was born. She is an American singer, songwriter, former model, musician and artist. She is best known for her associations with Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship. She has also performed sporadically as a solo artist. Some of her most famous songs: Somebody to Love (below), White Rabbit, We Built This City and Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now.
1945 - Henry Winkler was born. He is an American actor, comedian, director, producer and author. He is best known for his role of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on the 1970's sitcom, Happy Days. In 2018 he starred as Gene Cousineau on HBO's Barry. Some of his movies: Night Shift, The Lords of Flatbush, The One and Only, The Waterboy, Holes, Click and Here Comes the Boom.
