Going to a friend's birthday dinner today

Today hubby's friend is having a birthday celebration at some restaurant. The thing starts at 4 pm. Hubby works today and officially ends at 5 pm, if he doesn't get held up with a customer. By the time we get to the restaurant the party will be half way done already, if not almost over. If it were me I'd not go. It's one thing to be about half hour late but another to be hours late. That's very rude in my opinion. Maybe hubby will leave work earlier. But even if he does we will still be late by a lot and that's not good. On the plus side, he will drink less. I hope anyway... as he is the one driving us home. I asked him a few days ago where we are going and where the place is located but he told me he has no idea. It's somewhere in his text messages... I bet he is gonna start figuring that out when he gets home.

Good luck figuring out where you need to go. Since it's hubby's friend, he probably feels obligated to go, even if he's late. Hopefully he won't have time to drink too much since he must drive. Do you drive?

I have a license but don't drive. It doesn't matter if it is his friend or not. Coming in hours later is rude and disrespectful, even if the reason is that you work.

@LindaOHio We went. And though we were not on time neither were others. Unless hubby got the start time wrong.

He left work early so we were able to get to the restaurant though late but at a decent time. Some people were not there yet and no food was on the tables yet either. So all was good.

Everyone does it though. But it's one thing if it's a little drink as opposed to lots of shots.

Oooh, that just sounds weird. It is one thing if it is a party at a house, but as a restaurant is a little awkward. Also, he better eat something to soak up a drink, because I don't like hearing a person driving while intoxicated even if a little buzzed.

@lovebuglena I would rather a person get a taxi or something and just pick up the car the next day rather than risk someone's life, forget out their own, it is selfish to jeopardize others.

The party was good. I didn't like my main course but everything else I tried was good.
