Nurse adopts a patient so he can get a heart operation

If there is one thing about nurses that the public does not know since most of them like to keep their good deeds quiet, is the story of Lori Wood, 57, who works an Intensive Care Unit at the Piedmont Newman Hospital in Newman Georgia who is being credited for saving the life of a 27 year old patient named Jonathan Pinkard. Jonathan needed a heart transplant operation. The catch was that since he had no relatives who could take care of him after his operation, he would be placed on a long waiting list. Lori was assigned to be Jonathan's nurse since December 2018. She asked Jonathan If he would accept her being his legal guardian so she would take care of him after his surgery. Jonathan accepted her offer in a heartbeat. Jonathan did have a successful heart operation in August. Jonathan who suffers from autism, has developed a bond with Lori who is working with her adopted son to take care of himself to learn to be an independent young man in the future. It is nice to see nurses come to the aid of a patient who needs their help in the way that Lori came to assist Jonathan in his time of need.
