Black Catty and a kitten

DianneN (@DianneN) wrote about a new T-shirt she purchased which has a picture of a cat on it. You can catch up here (https://www.mylot.com/post/3317712/look-look). I asked her what Doodles had thought of the shirt. It reminded me of an incident involving Black Catty, the ornament in the photo. This ornament that has been in Vince’s family for many years and it is probably made of plaster of Paris. When we got our first kitten after we were married, we put Black Catty on the floor and put the kitten down quite close to it. The kitten fluffed itself up, laid its ears back, snarled and spat while giving Black Catty a wide berth. This went on for quite a few minutes. It was obvious that the kitten thought the ornament was real. It was very funny to watch.

Doodles saw a new stone garden statue of a cat in our yard. He fluffed up, hissed, and attacked it. Needless to say, it’s been living in our garage since then and facing the wall.

@JudyEv I’m sure he would not. He reacts to 3-D objects and objects that move. He loves playing with a mouse app on my iPad. My granddaughter tries to beat his score.

they do so many funny things our pets I had so many ornaments passed down from family. No idea where they are packed away now.

this rented house is too small to display much of anything. Still tons of boxes in the garage

@JudyEv It's not that with me its that I have moved to smaller and smaller places and gotten less and less mobile over the years till now there are just boxes piled in garage.

I'm hopeful that when we finally have to retire to a retirement village or whatever that we'll be able to get another cat. I miss having a cat.

The only time kittens have reacted for me was when they faced a mirror. Of course, the alien kitty responded to my kittens' stance and made it worse. I stopped leaving mirrors propped up on the floor after that

There is a rather long YouTube of the cat patting paws with one in the mirror. It goes on for ages but at the very end, the mirror cat turns its head away when the other cat doesn't. I suppose it's a Photoshop/Lightroom trick or somesuch.

There is a funny video on FB of a cat, trying to play with and harass a cat statue. I should bring something like that in here for Nico..We had a small inflatable bull one time, that my dad got as part of his work..when it was blown up, the cat was sizing it up, and doing double takes all night. It was really pretty funny.
