I'm Old School

I'm old school. I still believe in respect. I was always taught to respect my elders and to treat my belongings with care. I didn't destroy my toys or my cherished books. Today I am an elder and have been pretty lucky with people opening doors for me or giving me a seat. I think there is a faction of people in every country that have no respect for people or property. Fortunately it's not the majority; but I think that respect has taken a back seat for some people, young and old. How is it in your country? Photo Credit: Love This Pic

@resukill22 I think mutual respect makes for a society where people are happier and more productive.

Most people I know are respectful. I treat respect as a 2-way street. You give it, you get it.

I find many have little respect for their elders any more

Ever since I was small I was taught to respect the elderly but then my grandma was my best friend when I was three so it was easy to love the elderly

Respect is still as important as ever, but a lot of parents don't teach that to their kids. And the results are widespread in the kids' lives. They need to respect parents, teachers, law enforcement, elders, and God.

Down here in my country people are nice to each other, no matter what the news say, we respect each other, no matter the age or color.

Disrespect especially toward the older and anything vintage is growing in the US.

I think it just has to do with morals, I don't care what generation you are from if you are not taught morals and manners then you are a lost cause. I'm a millennial and I say thank you billion times, hold doors open, whatever. I have had old people literally slam doors in my face or ramming their grocery carts into mine because they didn't look before going into the next aisle thinking they owned the store. So it really just depends who taught them and if they actually keep those values.

I am old school too and believe in respect. Sadly today I see it far too many times that people just don't show respect like they use to.

Respect is still valued here although in the streets it is clear that most drivers have no respect for other drivers.
