Kosher Dill or Bread and Butter?

Have you ever heard of pickleball? I hadn’t, until I went to the semi-annual Hike, Bike, and Paddle fitness event the city puts on. I saw people playing it, and I was invited to give it a go. Next thing I knew, my partner was the city’s mayor!! Pickleball, apparently, is best defined as tennis for old folks. Seriously, the balls are plastic, not regular tennis balls. It’s played indoors as much as outside, so you can bet that there won’t be any 131 MPH serves measured! It’s a good way to have fun and exercise without the overtly competitive nature of other sports. Pictured above is a Friday afternoon pickleball session at Southeast Christian Church, in their gym. To show you the popularity, a couple of months ago they only had two “courts” set up. Now it takes up the entire gym! As for the name, pickleball, I don’t know its origins. I just know I prefer kosher dill or bread & butter!
