"Funny Farm" is a comedy that was released in 1988. The movie was met with mixed reviews. The budget was $19 million; and the box office receipts were $25.5 million. CAST Chevy Chase - Andy Farmer Madolyn Smith - Elizabeth Farmer Kevin O'Morrison - Sheriff Ledbetter Mike Starr - Crocker Glenn Plummer - Mickey Joseph Maher - Michael Sinclair Bill Fagerbakke - Lon Criterion Nicholas Wyman - Dirk Criterion William Newman - Gus Lotterhand Kevin Conway - Crum Petree Brad Sullivan - Brock Jack Gilpin - Bud Culbertson Andy Farmer is a New York City sports writer who moves with his wife Elizabeth to the quiet town of Redbud, Vermont, so that he can write a novel. The first thing that happens is that the delivery men get lost; and the Farmers spend their first night in their new home sleeping on the floor. Elizabeth sneakily eats the last of the food. The movers finally arrive. Elizabeth is unpacking with headphones on, listening to music and the snake that Andy caught on his line comes in and scares her. The mailman has to go out of his way to drop off their mail; and by the time he gets there he's mad; so he throws the mail out of his window. Elizabeth is digging in the garden and finds a dead body. The township takes the body away; and then gives them a bill for removal and funeral for a total of $4,000. There are a lot more little incidents that the Farmers must endure. One of them has to do with Andy eating a record amount of a certain food. If you want to know what happens next, you will have to watch the movie. Some critics really loved this movie. Ebert says that this movie is a "small miracle". Siskel calls it "the best film Chase has made". I don't agree. The movie is OK. The greatest movie Chevy Chase has been in, in my opinion, is "National Lampoon's Vacation". Do I recommend this movie? Yes. Is it the greatest movie I've ever seen? No. Is it the worst? No. This movie is rated PG.
Life in the country isn't what it's cracked up to be when city slicker Chevy Chase moves there. Year: 1988
