Separate ways

Today seems to be a sad day to me. I did not report for work today and help her fixed her things. I already bade farewell to my wife for NYC. She is bound there to attend to his ailing father. As we hear the news that his conditions are weakening every hour and she is really needed to be there the soonest possible time. Of course I have to calm her down and accompanied her to the airport. This will be the first time we will be separated in our 18 years of marriage. Its hard right now she is not around home and me and my son will be on our own in the next coming days.

I am but just worried with my wife that she is all alone there without me. But friends and relatives are there to support her I guess. She called me this morning and she still is in pain as I can hear her voice. But so far she is okay.

Well the distance is just too far. The cost also is a factor plus the fact i have to attend to my son’s schooling.

@Nakitakona Today is his cremation day and tomorrow a mass will be given to him with family and friends. After that it's done. My wife will have to stay for 1 more week there as she bought a ticket home by the 29th of this month.

@rsa101 okay. It's understandable. Condolence to the bereaved family of your late father-in-law.

Our house is not far from school he could manage to walk by himself there. Yeah I think it was a blessing in disguise that we were able to get our US visas last year at least we would not be troubled getting it now. It would not be practical anymore since I do not think she will be able to catch her flight this soon.

@hereandthere Yes he will be. He’s old enough to take care of his needs. I asked office to allow me to go home early for this couple of weeks to attend to other household chores. I will be a house dad and mom this couple of weeks.

Yeah this is first time for us to be separated with her traveling long distance. Last year we were together there for a month. It was one of the highlights of my family last year. We met my father in law he even showed us around the city. It is such so sudden that he has been so helpless and in coma now. I feel for my wife’s anguish right now.

@rsa101 It's scary how health can just go downhill.

@yoalldudes That’s true I was caught by surprise. I know a couple of weeks ago they were still chatting online and there was no sign of him deteriorating in health.

I am so sorry but I'm sure, as you say yourself, that at the moment she is needed by her father's side. I hope you will not be apart for too long.

She’s planning to stay a couple of weeks there. I understand she has to do it. I would like to come but it’s just not possible for me and not practical for me and my son.

@JudyEv She has arrived there already and she said that she could not resist crying and being sad seeing his father there lying motionless. She tried communicating with him but unresponsive anymore. She tried touching his hands but there was no hint that he is responding at all. So it looks like the machine and meds are the ones making him alive at this point in time.

Trying to be okay. I know when she arrives there it would not be happy scenario that will greet her there. My sister will just assist her there and some of her relatives too who are there.
