Crazy transportation issues Sunday

We are pretty much out of coffee so I decided to go to Whole Foods yesterday. That's the only place I buy fresh coffee beans from. To get there by transportation I usually take a railway, then transfer to a bus, and then take the subway. It turned out that the railway was not stopping at my stop so I had to walk to a bus instead. Instead of the usual 25-27 minute walk (to the train) I had to walk at least 40 minutes to the bus. While I was waiting to cross the street to get to the bus stop I noticed my bus passing by. I had missed the bus but at least I didn't have to wait that long for the next one. It was only about a 13-minute wait. When I finally got to where the subway is, it turned out the subway was not running either. So I went to a bus instead. The scheduled bus and the next scheduled bus after that one never showed up. When the bus finally came at least 50 minutes had passed. It was rather chilly out and to wait that long for a bus was crazy. I wasn't gonna leave though as I already traveled a long way. After I got on the bus I got a call from my husband telling me that he finished work. I told him I just got on the bus. He told me to stay on the bus and said that he'd meet me at a bus stop he was close to. So that's what I did. This saved me time. And I was grateful for that. Usually on weekends subways may not stop on certain stops or be rerouted along other subway lines... But buses usually don't have changes unless there is some parade or street fair going on. There was nothing like that in this case. When I left the house I knew that the railway train was not running but I had no idea that the subway train was not. I checked to see if the subway train I needed was running normally, prior to leaving the house, and was told by my Maps widget that the service is good when actually that was not the case. Next time I will only rely on the MTA website for service updates and advisories.

@lovebuglena Yes that was good. We are also having transport problems here in Denver. There are terrible driver shortages.

@TiarasOceanView We have so much transportation here and yet service is not always what it should be, especially on weekends.

Man, what a pain! I had no idea you had to travel that far and by so many conveyances to get to Whole Foods!

Yep. What I try to do is go there myself in time for hubby to finish work and get me so I don't have to spend a long time dragging the bags home. Or sometimes I just wait for him to finish work and then tell him we gotta go there.

That's quite a journey to get there. That's the problem with public transportation and you can't always depend on online updates.

If I had gone directly to the MTA website I'd have known the subway was not running but as far as the delay of the bus I wouldn't have known about that till I got to the bus stop or slightly before that.

It seems like a stressful day riding with a bus.

When it is pretty chilly out, and I am not exactly dressed for the weather, I don't really want to wait almost an hour for a bus. If I would've known right away that it would be that long of a wait, I would've just gone to a department store and walked around there while hubby finished work and then he would've picked me up from there and we would've gone to Whole Foods. I should've checked the bus time website right away.
