Pumpkin Pie Day National Stuffing Day 1676 - Danish astronomer Ole Romer presents the first quantitative measurement of the speed of light. 1877 - Thomas Edison announces his invention of the phonograph, a machine that records and plays sound. 1944 - Harold Ramis was born. He was an American actor, comedian, director, producer and screenwriter. His best-known roles: Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, and Russell Ziskey in Stripes. He also co-wrote these 3 films. Some of his directing highlights: Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Groundhog Day and Analyze This. The final film that he wrote, produced, directed and acted in was Year One. He died in 2014. 1945 - Goldie Hawn was born. She is an American actress, singer and producer. Her breakthrough appearance was on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968-1970). Acting in films she won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Cactus Flower. Some of her other movies: There's a Girl in My Soup, Shampoo, Private Benjamin, Overboard, Death Becomes Her, The First Wives Club and The Banger Sisters.
