When I was little, my mother bought us a series of books called "The Survival Series For Kids". Each month we would get a new book about something different, but the book that I love d the most was, "What To Do When Your Mom or Dad Says...Clean Your Room!" I had ADD bad, still do, but I didn't get diagnosed until I was an adult. Cleaning my room was like torture. I really wanted it to be neat and organized, but every time I would try, I would get caught up alphabetizing my books or sorting something minuscule, and it really didn't make much of an impact on the room as a whole. I didn't understand how to prioritize, so when I got this book, with step by step instructions, I was elated! Every time I was asked to clean my room I would get it out, read each step, do each step, and TA DA! it was clean! I shared this book with my children, who don't hold it as dear to their hearts as I do, but I think they got a kick out of it. The steps are pretty funny. I definitely don't clean like this now. My copy is completely worn and dirty from 30+ years of use, but I included the graphic from Amazon. It had a library binding edition for $18 and used books from $90!! It's a tiny little book. It must be pretty rare. My copy is thrashed, but I wouldn't give it up even if I could sell it for $90. The sentimental value it has is priceless and I know I will share it with my future grandkids. Just for fun, I thought I'd include the steps on how to clean your room. This is just a summary. Each step is detailed and explains to kids how to do each one. 1. Clear everything off your bed. 2. Make your bed. 3. Pick up anything that is out of place and put it on your bed. 4. Put the objects on your bed away. 5. Dust the furniture in your room. 6. Vacuum, sweep, or dust mop your room. After that it tells your how to organize your room after your room is clean. It also includes things like how to make your bed, how to fold and put away your clothes, etc. It's really cute. I'm glad I had this handy little book when I was a kid.

I haven't heard of this series. It looks like a very good and effective book for children. I'm glad it's one of your treasures.

I still have a bunch of them. They are adorable. I know my 7 year old daughter loves them too. They all start out as, "When you mom or dad says..." and they have topics like: You Want a Pet?, ,Stand Up Straight!, Don't Slurp Your Soup!, Help Do The Yard Work, Take Care of Your Clothes, Get Dressed, and We Can't Afford It. Those are the ones I still have anyway. My 7 year old really needs to read the We Can't Afford It one! lol
