"It Could Happen to You" was released in 1994. It's a romantic comedy-drama inspired by a true incident. CAST Nicolas Cage - Charlie Lang Bridget Fonda - Yvonne Biasi Rosie Perez - Muriel Lang Wendell Pierce - Bo Williams Isaac Hayes - Angel Dupree Stanley Tucci - Eddie Biasi Victor Rojas - Jesu Seymour Cassel - Jack Gross J. E. Freeman - Sal Bontempo Red Buttons - Walter Zakuto Charlie Lang is an officer for the New York Police Department and lives in Queens. He's generous and kind and loves his job with the force. His wife, Muriel, is loud, greedy and selfish and works in a hair salon. One morning Charlie goes into a local diner and orders coffee for himself and his partner. They get a call over the radio. Charlie has enough money to pay for the coffee but not enough for the tip. He has to run. He sees his lottery ticket in his wallet and tells the waitress, Yvonne, that he will give her half the winnings from his lottery ticket as a tip. Believe it or not, he wins $4 million dollars in the lottery. Muriel freaks out when Charlie tells her that he promised half the winnings to a waitress. He feels that "a promise is a promise". He placates her by saying that people will look at her and say, "Muriel Lang, a woman with a heart of gold". He also tells her that she could probably get some endorsements from her generosity. The next day Charlie returns to the diner and gives Yvonne a choice -- double the tip or half what he won in the lottery. This is such a heartwarming, romantic story. Two generous, kind people are given the kind of money that most of us dream about; and they share it with the rest of the community. During the scene with the kids at Yankee Stadium the song "Young at Heart" plays in the background. It's perfect because "fairy tales can come true, it could happen to you". What happens will totally come as a surprise. I love true stories; and I highly recommend this movie. This movie is rated PG. Photo Credit: Pixabay
