Silky Sadder But Wiser

My poor sweet Elvis’ sister Silky is still reeling from the loss of her brother and has her moments. I truly believe that in the early morning hours when Elvis always got a bit active he comes to visit his sister. Early in the wee hours of the morning, I heard Silky again downstairs and this time she was really crying. Animals like cats see spirits and I believe she was expressing her sorrow at seeing him but not being able to be with him. It took a while to calm her down from what I heard upstairs. However, Silky has learned a life lesson. Across the street from us is a large grassy space that is kept as additional parking for the Greek Orthodox Church up the street. She and Elvis ran across the street and played in the grass and among the bushes. The tragedy occurred when they were running back to our side in the dark and Elvis never made it. It makes me sadder to think that I can count the cars going through our little street and some nights I don’t even hear one. Anyway, Silky now no longer goes to that grassy space I believe for her like for humans there are just too many memories. So she does not even cross the street anymore she goes through a hole in our fence and into the grassy private property next door. There is plenty of shade from the trees and plenty of things to catch in the grass so at least she is starting to come around. The photo is of a selfie that Silky took.

I wish I could take her in my arms and explain it all but you just can't explain these things to a cat @andriaperry

My friend lost 2 of her 3 cats to drivers who were speeding through the development. It's a horrible thing to lose a pet and especially this way.

I'm so sorry Elvis is gone. I know animals grieve. It's good she is grieving for Elvis. It keeps him close to her as she finds peace once more.

Animals have feelings not only towards each other but look at how they react to people's moods!
