Sharing a Smile with You

My neighbor called Thursday. He just turned 80. Lost his wife last year to cancer. He said Happy Thanksgiving to you! I hope you all enjoy your day. I let him talk and told him the same. I feel sorry for him. His daughter is moving 30 miles away and he is sad about not seeing them every day. He would spend days helping her at her house, only one street away, and it kept him busy. He will find something else now I am sure. But he makes the best of it and I always talk to him when I see him puttering around in the yard. He is pretty active for 80 years old. And I told him that. He said that made his day and was his smile for the day. So there you go, the little things in life can go a long way. Making him smile made me smile. Share a smile as you go long this journey called life. It may be the only one the next person gets. Eeyore also says to Smile!

sure doesn't take much to warm someones heart :) so sad his daughter 'tis movin' 'n i've great hopes he finds somewhere to help, perhaps do some volunteer work. 'lways a need fer such. i 'dmire folks who continue to keep busy 's they tend to kinda give'p when they lose a spouse.

@CarolDM i can relate, 30 miles fer me to drive somedays might's well be a thousand. heck, quite oft i don't e'en 'ttempt to go 'nto town to see my sweet momma. jest 12 miles, but when the body 'tis misbehavin' i jest don't drive. i hope his daughter visits oft. i've a feelin' though that'cher gonna be keepin' a close eye, too.

It is sad. Only 30 miles, but he used to walk to her house. What helped him was having his daughter and grandson so close.

@CarolDM Poor guy. I am so sorry that he lost his birthday. I am glad you were able to put a smile on his face. I shared a smile with my dental hygientist today and two people I have not seen in a long time.

Thanks, just trying to lighten my mood. I hope so too. He is good at making things with wood, I encouraged him to continue.

@LindaOHio In a few minutes the game starts. Just talked to my uncle, he was a little down but it will all be ok. Thanks for asking.
