Longer working hours from today.....

So from today till the end of this academic session, I will have longer working hours. So it starts today and will continue till end of March.
Last Wednesday I had good long meeting with the principal and we came out with this plan. Wednesday too will be a working day for me. And instead of working till 1:45 in afternoon, I will work till the school closes at 2:45. And that gives me just enough time to go from there and pick up my younger daughter.
I have been assigned extra task to make children and teachers sensitive and accepting for special needs in the classroom. So this week, my work starts with doing some artwork with the whole class and including my children there. Since it's Christmas time, I have few Christmas artwork and carols on mind and that can continue for days till the final class Christmas party.
Since it is my first day with those children, I guess it will go more in knowing each other and some singing and playing to know each other well.
So I am all set to leave for work. Hope the plan goes well.
See you later.

You will need more energy for longer working hours. But I'm glad to know that the activities are fun like artwork.

Actually I work for two sessions and that is just 1 hour 45 minutes. So having an extra one hour should be good. Earlier I worked from 9 to 3:30 when I was a full time teacher.

It is just added one hour to my already one and half hour schedule. But yes I need to well prepare for the week on weekends. Artwork is always fun and a great way to bond. It is also therapeutic.

I love my work and so do not mind extra working hours. As such I work for one and half hours four times a week. So adding an extra day and extra hour each day is okay with me. I will be happy if it can bring the result that we are planning for. I will be doing some sessions with adults both parents and teachers in Jan end and may be in Feb too.

I am assuming that you get an additional pay for that added work.

I do not have a fixed salary and advantages of a regular full time employee. I am part time there and so am paid on hourly basis. So definitely yes.

@arunima25 it's nice to work part time when you have a house chore to attend.

@Alexandoy Yes. Earlier I was a full time teacher. But then few health issues made me make this shift.

Yes a good friendly way is the right way to start with this age group of 7-9 years. They were quite happy and first day went well. At least I felt that they have accepted me.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes I like to be prepared so that I go organized in class. A few hours of preparation and planning on weekend helps with a smooth working week. Otherwise it becomes chaotic and unproductive. That is not good for me or for my children.
