My Uncle had a Device Removed

Was talking to my uncle for the past hour. His nurse is off on the weekends. So his mind wanders places unknown usually. The main reason I like to call on the weekends. He needs to talk, I believe. Even if it doesn't make sense. I listen.
He told me he had a device inside him that ticked down to his day of dying. Of course this is not true. But I listened. Then he said his nurse came last week and checked his vitals. Everything was good. So he removed the device. He didn't need it any more.
So I interrupted and said, you don't need it because you are not dying. He said yes, you are absolutely correct. And then he said he needed to go and rest. I never know what the conversations will bring.
The card was for his birthday a few months ago. He turned 90 years old.
Have a good day everyone.

@CarolDM I think it's pathetic; but I went through that with my in-laws. We were the only ones that really checked up on them on a regular basis and went over there at least once a week (they were 45 minutes away).

@LindaOHio 500 miles away! I am so done with the rest of "his" family. Not mine any more.

At least your uncle is already 90 and probably had a good life behind him. My cousin is only 60 and he is already drifting away from us. There is just a little sense left in our conversation with him and he had already forgotten our names.

Maybe he has decided to take a different approach to living.

That's a good news. With such age of 90 he needs to be listened to as what you have been doing. Hope he will more years to come. God bless him.
