The coldest temperature ever recorded would literally steal your breath

-144 degrees farenheit was recorded in Vostok, Antartica last year. Humans could not breathe that frigid of air for very long, their lungs would hemorrhage. I don't like to imagine how painful that would be, as well as how terrifying it would be.
Scientists do not regularly go to the area that this temperature was recorded in, in fact it was recorded via satellite technology. However, they do wear a mask that is designed to warm the air around their mouth and nose before they breathe it in.
It gives you a new perspective on all those shows and movies that feature frigid temps at Weather Stations in Antarctica.

Yes, -144 degrees is a temp I could not even fathom. There was no one living or working in the area that this temp was taken, they would not have survived it.

Definitely! I will let better people than myself go to those places. I'm fine staying cozy here in warmer temps. More power to those that make a career out of living in those type places for a stretch..

Yes. This actually reminds me a bit of a show I watched on the weather channel once. It talked about what the world would be like in 1000 years because of global warming. It was inhabitable.

I love cold weather, but only because it brings us snow. I would rather be cold than hot, but definitely not this dangerously cold.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Like I said, if I am inside I don't mind. I love seeing a little snow and all the birds from the windows. I cannot tolerate the heat. Cold anytime.

This is deadly. In order to resolve it, they to increase greenhouse and water vapor. I don't know how they do it. It's a fact, therefore that cold air sinks.
