1789 - The University of North Carolina is established.
1946 - UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund) is established.
1931 - Rita Moreno was born. She is a Puerto Rican-American dancer, actress and singer. She is probably best remembered for her singing and dancing role in West Side Story. She has won an Academy Award, Emmy, Grammy and Tony. She is also one of two people that have won an Academy Award, Emmy and Tony for acting...Helen Hayes is the other recipient.
1944 - Brenda Lee was born. She is an American singer and songwriter. She sings country, pop and rockabilly and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Two of her big hits: Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (1958-see below) and I'm Sorry.

New York bagels are hard to find; but they are so good. I'm glad you passed along the food and treats. I'm still hanging on to dog toys, a dog bed, etc., even though I know we aren't getting any more dogs. :-(

@LindaOHio Those good bagels are impossible to find in Florida, but we found a place that is pretty good.
We donated most of Doodles’ things to Goodwill and threw the junk out. He was buried with Mr. Goosie and Mr. Baby. He loved them so much.
I don’t know why you are hanging on to those things unless it’s comforting to you.

I met Brenda Lee at the opening of the new Hall of Fame in 2001. She really is "little" miss dynamite. Jimmy Dickens could look down on her! 
She is sweet, and what a voice.
And don't forget she was mentioned in Golden Earring's "Radar Love" ("Brenda Lee's 'Comin' on Strong'").
