A day out to a petting farm.

My step-dad doesn't like driving very far these days so instead of going on holiday we go on short day trips. One time we went to this petting farm which had a small train. We went on the train first. It went round in something like a figure eight and went past some of the animals especially sheep. The scenery was lovely. Then we went back to the cafe for something to eat. After that we went and sat on a bench for a bit. Then we went to see some of the animals. There were some lovely horses in the stables, and I went to look inside one of their stalls. Suddenly I felt something on my shoulder - the horse was nibbling my shoulder, as if to say "Get out of my stable!" I apologised to the horse and said I was only trying to see inside, I wasn't trying to trespass! The horse left a slobbery wet mark on my shoulder!

I don't remember going to a petting farm. I think that is good for the kids so they will learn how to be kind to animals.

We had one in the Bronx zoo and one in Central Park in New York city--we would always go to see and pet the animals!

@GreatMartin that's nice to know. The city kids can get the experience.

Yes, I totally agree. It's always good to be kind to animals.

Day trips can be fun and less expensive than driving on a long vacation trip
Perhaps that horse might of been looking for a treat from you, lol.

It was a lovely horse even though it did slobber on my shoulder!
