This time of year holds a special place in my heart. I truly feel the Christmas Spirit. One of my favorite Christmas quotes is as follows: “Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” ~ Calvin Coolidge As my girls were growing up I did my beset to teach them that Christmas is more than just a time for receiving gifts. They learned quite young that it is more a time of giving and loving than getting. Every year, through our church we would adopt a family and make sure they had a Christmas meal and gifts to go with it. It was all done anonymously in the true spirit of giving. I am proud to say that they have carried on with this little tradition. Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.

It's a shame that so many parents make Christmas about receiving gifts @HazySue Children would be better off if they did not expect gifts all the time.
