You know Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is really Rudolpha! So they wrote the story wrong
The reindeer has to be a female because male reindeer shed their antlers around mid December.
Females keep their antlers till spring!
A few other facts I learned about reindeer, they mostly live in hostile and cold atmosphere's. During the warmer months their eyes are gold and in the winter they turn to blue!
Also in the warmer months their hooves are soft and harder in the winter that way they can crack the ice easier to get vegetation.
Did you know any of this stuff? I didn't!

I had learned about Rudolph being Rudolpha recently, the other stuff I was not aware of.

@dfollin It makes sense that Rudolph was a girl though.

No, you didn't miss anything it's just that he is based on a "real" reindeer and supposed to be a male one. But that cannot be because male reindeer shed their antlers before Christmas. See in the picture Rudolph(supposed to be a male) and the other reindeer that is Rudolph's girlfriends father have antlers, His girlfriend, the female has no antlers. This is wrong! This was supposed to be on Christmas eve I believe , December 24th. But male reindeer shed their antlers about December 15th and female's still have their's till springtime.

I don't think they intentionally lied, it's part of sales for gimmicks that helped sell many, many Christmas items, including the TV movie and the story. LOL! I think your life will get better,lol@Bensen32 (28658)

@dfollin Dang so they lied to us and all the male reindeer are actually the females and all the females are male. OH MY GOD!!!! my whole life is ruined. What else have they lied about? Is my mom really my mom and not really my dad and my dad is really my mom? The whole world just started spinning the other way. Oh the humanity!!
