"The Long, Long Trailer" is a road comedy released in 1954. Th movie was directed by Vincente Minnelli. The studio was skeptical as to whether or not the public would want to pay money to see Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz on the big screen when they could watch them on the little screen at home in "I Love Lucy". Arnaz made a $25,000 bet that the profit would be higher than the current highest grossing comedy at that time...which was "Father of the Bride". Arnaz won the bet. The film's box office receipts were $4.9 million with a budget of $1.5 million. CAST Lucille Ball - Tacy Bolton-Collini Desi Arnaz - Nicholas "Nicky" Collini Marjorie Main - Mrs. Hittaway Keenan Wynn - Policeman Gladys Hurlbut - Mrs. Bolton Moroni Olsen - Mr. Tewitt Bert Freed - Foreman Madge Blake - Aunt Anastacia Walter Baldwin - Uncle Edgar Emory Parnell - Policeman Oliver Blake - Mr. Ludlow Perry Sheehan - Bridesmaid Nicholas Collini accepts a new job as a civil engineer which requires him to travel around the United States to various job sites. His new bride, Tacy, comes up with the idea that they should buy a trailer so that they can take it to Nicky's different work projects and save money that would have been spent on a house. Nicky's job is to start in Colorado; and Tacy wants to make that part of their honeymoon trip which is to be to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Nicky and Tacy go to a trailer show; and Tacy falls in love with a large trailer. Unfortunately it's a little larger than they had originally planned on; and it's necessary to buy a new car and trailer hitch to tow it. The total money spent starts to climb. At the beginning of the trip they stay in a trailer park. That's all well and good, except they are inundated with friendly trailer park residents and noise. Tacy decides that she'd like to be alone with Nicky and would like to stay in the woods. It begins to rain; and they turn down an old logging road. You'll have to watch the movie if you want to find out what happens. Lucille Ball is famous for her physical comedy; and there is plenty of opportunity for that in this movie. Desi makes a good straight man to Lucy's comedic persona. There is one disastrous situation after another. You have yet to experience what happens when they reach the mountains; so I would recommend that you watch "The Long, Long Trailer". This movie is Not Rated. Nothing offensive in this movie. I have seen this one. It's basically Lucy and Ricky without the Mertz's.

Oh yeah. We've laughed at this movie over the years. I am a rock collector and am known for doing such things as carrying Missouri rocks back to Washington state in my suitcase.

I'm not real sure I have seen this one. If I did, I don't remember that much about it! Maybe it's time to look this one up!
