With only a few months to go and the franchise of one of the giant Network has not been renewed it could probably sign off for good. The network got the ire of the president of the country and now he is bent on not granting the renewal of the franchise.
Should that happen I feel sad for the thousands of employees and their families.

I don't think that is possible if they do not renew the franchise of ABS-CBN. Even the speaker of the house, Alan Peter, said that personally he doesn't want to renew although it is congress that will decide. It is foolhardy to block the renewal, plain stupidity. That network is the biggest and it is already an industry in itself.

The network was closed during the Marcos regime, I hope history not repeating itself. My fear is that should Congress grant the renewal will the president sign it? Secondly granting they are renewed I believe the president will find ways to find errors in them. He is even hard on the water company owned by the family.

@florelway I am betting $1 that the network will be granted a franchise. From what I feel, the threat not to renew is a hint of extortion.

@Alexandoy knowing Tatay Digong, we just wait. Yesterday their foundation is donating some classrooms to one of our schools. I hope should the network close, forbid it, the foundation continues.

@DianneN that network was actually closed in the early 70's and came back to air when a new president took over in 1986. We hope history not repeating itself. Looks like they always have the ire of somebody in power.

@DianneN my concern goes to the ordinary workers. I don't care about the actors the network kept as they can always find their ways somewhere.

It sounds unbelievable right? Like I can't a grip that it is really happening, or the possibility of it.

We can only wait. If it's not renewed it's repeating history, they went off air in the 70's.
