1542 - Princess Mary Stuart becomes Queen of Scots at the age of one week upon the death of her father.
1782 - The Montgolfier brothers test fly an unmanned hot air balloon in France; and it flies nearly 2 km (1.2 miles).
1946 - Patty Duke was born. She was an American stage, film and TV actress. In the 1950s she first appeared on the soap opera The Brighter Day and also in print ads and TV commercials. At the age of 16 (1962) she appeared as Helen Keller in the movie The Miracle Worker and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1963 she played Cathy and Patty Lane in The Patty Duke Show. 1967 brought a more mature role when she appeared in Valley of the Dolls. She has won a total of 3 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes. She passed away in 2016.

Nah, just another boring day. My computer came today; so I'm likely to have a frustrating day tomorrow as I set it up, transfer all the files, download all my software and follow the steps to have my automatic backup changed to the new computer.

Patty Duke was tremendous in The Miracle Worker. Duke won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance. Also married John Astin from The Addams Family TV show
