I Just Saved A Bird!

Was sitting at the computer, looking out the window. Watching the birds. I heard a shuffling noise. I knew both cats were asleep on the sofa. The door to the garage is not too far away from the chair I am sitting in.
I listened and heard it again. I knew the garage door was closed. So I figured it was something in the garage. I slowly turned the garage light on, and kept listening. Then slowly opened the garage door. Before I went down the steps, I saw it!
The pest control guy leaves a few (SMALL) glue traps in case there are any mice in the garage. During the winter, they will try to come inside for food or water. I rarely see any, but the traps are only glue, not any pesticides.
Back to the story, I thought it was a mouse in the trap but it was a bird, a small wren. I thought, oh no, he will die, how will I get him unstuck. I found a small tool in the garage, took him outside, and opened up the glue trap and sort of scooted him from the glue. I unstuck the bird and he flew away!
It looked like a little house wren probably. Must have flown in when the door was open. But he is free now. I was so happy! And yes I snapped a photo of the feathers left behind. Didn't have time to get a photo of the bird.

Sometimes a bird enters our home too. One time the bird seemed to be confused because of our 3 dogs barking at the intruder. It took the bird some 5 minutes before it was able to go out the door.

Nice! You did your good deed for the day! Hopefully there wasn't any residual glue on his little bird feet!

Aww I am so glad you were able to rescue him. I hate having to use pest control products I wish animals that don't belong in our homes would just stay out. There is a mouse in our backroom where I keep the burnables and recycling. I burned all the stuff today was when I noticed the mice poop. I just set a spring trap.

Glad that he is free and flew away. I didn't know about these glue traps. Something new and interesting to know.

You have done a good turn today by saving a helpless bird glued on a trap. You're blessed for that.
