Hubby came home at 1 am yesterday

Hubby was invited to a poker game last night that his cousin was hosting. On Wednesday he told me he probably wasn't gonna go because the gathering would be at 9 pm and the next day is an early wake up for work. Also, Thursday he ends work at 9 pm. Of course, I knew that wasn't gonna be the case. Doesn't matter how late it is, he will usually never turn down hanging out with his buddies, regardless of whether the next day is work day or not? I was hoping he would come home first to see me before going to his cousin's house but he went straight there to save time. And he came home at around 1 am. Apparently, he was the first one to leave. Everyone else was still there hanging out... I was shocked but not surprised though. Who the heck hosts a late night poker game or a hangout on a weekday, complete with lots of hard liquor, and lets everyone hang out way way past midnight when the next day everyone has to go to work? Hubby told me one guy that was there had a long commute home, probably close to two hours, and yet he stayed there hanging out instead of calling it a night and going home. The guy was probably still drinking hard liquor, as all of hubby's buddies are really into that when they get together. They can take one shot after another and without even much of a break between shots. Thankfully, hubby did not come home drunk. He told me he sipped tequila. If he was really sipping it and not taking shots I am surprised but glad that this was the case.

What can I say? He stayed out knowing that he had to get up early the next day. My husband did that but on a Saturday night (when I thought we should be together). He got older and got over that.

Yep. And he overslept, which means he was late to work. Unless I had a dream that he overslept. But hey, even when we doesn't go anywhere and is home bed time is always usually between midnight and 1 am.

@lovebuglena Then he should be used to it. I wouldn't care for the drinking and driving part. I would worry about that.

@LindaOHio This shouldn't happen regardless of whether he is hanging out or staying at home. If you have to get up early for work the next day you do not go to sleep that late. You should theoratically be in bed by 11 pm.

Oh goodness, I certainly remember all the 'boys night out' get togethers I used to go to. Yep, lots of drinking and playing poker all night long. But it was always on a Friday or Saturday, so yeah I guess it's a little weird that they did a poker night on a work night.Glad hubby made it home safely though.

When hubby gets together with his buddies there is never no booze. There is always hard liquor involved.

@lovebuglena Oh yes, boys will be boys. When poker is involved, so is hard liquor!

@lovebuglena Yeah, I'm sure all that stuff goes on. I've been involved in enough poker nights over the years to not be under any false pretenses that stuff like that doesn't happen.

Thanks. Glad his cousin doesn't live very far from our house. But he now lives further from us than he did.
