A taste of my first harvest

At the onset of spring, my older daughter and I went to the plant barn to buy seeds of various vegetables like rocket and parsley. We also bought some seedlings of tomatoes and capsicum. We were lucky one Sunday morning to be able to buy Chinese chives with roots. All of these I planted in a mixed-use little garden for veggies and flowers. I planted seeds of sunflowers and they are now 2 feet in height and anytime these days the buds will soon sprout into flowers. I supported them with long sticks so they won’t bend with the strong winds. Every morning I raise the ties up as they grow. The magnolias I planted already had their buds bloom into radiant flowers. A few days ago, I made the first harvest of the rocket veggies and my wife made them into salad for lunch today. We all enjoyed the crunchy and yummy rockets. Later this afternoon I will be harvesting more leaves of the rockets and keep them in the refrigerator. Soon the tomatoes will come next for harvest as there are already a number of them as well as the capsicum. In a week or two the Chinese chives will be ready for harvest too. The spring onions won’t be left far behind.

Looks delicious, can’t go wrong with fresh veggies. What kind of dressing did you use or make?

It was indeed very yummy, Ms. Michelle :) Will wait for my older daughter to be back from her trip before I make the third harvest of the rocket. She’s the one who bought everything I needed for the garden. There are now plenty of tomatoes soon to be harvested and the Chinese chives are waiting to be harvested too. The parsley are temptingly green and ready to be harvested too. I wonder who will have the time to tend the garden when I go home. I will be back in March for another 4 months here:)

You really are a jack of all trades! Now you are a farmer, havubg that " green thumb". I keep enlarging the picture trying to look for that "rockets " you have mentioned. I suppose they are those cashew like fiodlets in that salad. I love salads specially if they have something crunchy in them. Your salad looks so delicious! I crave for it now. he he he

I’m sure you remember that back home I also take care of our lawn and garden. The green leaves in the photo are the rockets. I will have my third harvest of it tomorrow or the following days of the rocket. The Chinese chives are ready for harvest too. I will harvest them when we have bought tofu that will go withe the chives and ground pork. The tomatoes and capsicum are ready for picking. I hope to harvest these veggies before we go home next weekend. I’ m worried that they won’t gave the time to tend the garden because of work and the baby. BTW, the parsley is also aplenty and waiting to be harvested.

I made my first harvest this afternoon of the Chines chives and my wife cooked them with sliced tofu and ground pork. The couple visitors of my daughter liked it. I’m excited to go home but reluctant at the same time because I will miss the baby.
