Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics, boasts to his new acquaintance, Colonel Pickering, that he can take any woman off the street and teach her to speak properly and then pass her off as a duchess. Eliza Doolittle has a very pronounced Cockney accent and sells flowers on the street. She overhears Professor Higgins and goes to his house to inquire about taking speech lessons. She wants to be able to work in a flower shop. Pickering wagers Higgins that he cannot take Eliza and make a lady out of her. Higgins takes on Eliza free of charge.
If you want to find out what happens, you will have to watch the movie. You will enjoy the movie as much as the music; and Audrey Hepburn is a gem in this movie. I give "My Fair Lady" my wholehearted recommendation.
This movie is rated G.
