Tick Tock Day (to remind us to clear up any unfinished business by the end of the year) National Pepper Pot Day 1851 - The first YMCA opened in Boston, Massachusetts. 1949 - KC2XAK in Bridgeport, Connecticut, becomes the first UHF (Ultra high frequency) TV station to operate on a daily schedule. 1936 - Mary Tyler Moore was born. She was an American stage, film and TV actress, producer and social advocate. She is most remembered for her roles as Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966) and Mary Richards on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-1977). She died in 2017. 1947 - Ted Danson was born. He is an American actor and producer. He is best known for his role as Sam Malone on Cheers (1982-1993) and Dr. John Becker on Becker (1998-2004).
